At the opening ceremony of the eighth Beijing International Film Festival on Sunday, metal hues were the colors of choice for many celebrities.

Among them, singer Karen Mok wowed onlookers with a gold and black animal print dress that gave her a sultry touch and an air of power.

From the runway to the red carpet to high street, gold has shone more often than any other year.

For most people, gold is too bold and eye-catching for daily wear. In the past, except for evening dresses, the color only appeared on shoes or bags.
