Bayannur convened fairs and expositions to promote its agricultural and livestock products through an e-commerce platform and cross-industry collaborations on Aug 14. 

Organized by the region’s commerce department, events included China (Inner Mongolia) Agribusiness Marketing Fair, E-commerce Forum on Farming and Grazing, and Inner Mongolia Green Agricultural and Livestock Products Exposition.

Natural resources are Bayannur’s treasure where affluent plains stretch over 666,000 hectares and the water diverted from the Yellow River reaches 5 billion cubic meters per year, according to Chang Zhigang, Party secretary of Bayannur. The place also has an annual average sunshine of 3,100 to 3,300 hours. The land is endowed with affluent resources including water, soil, sunshine and heat, making its agricultural  sector prosperous.

Bayannur has driven the boom of the local husbandry industry through protecting farming soil and grazing grass to produce high-quality organic agri-products, building local brands and subsidizing leading enterprises to broader export businesses, strengthening cross-industry cooperation such as logistics and e-commerce trade in the rural areas.

To broaden its export businesses, Ganqimaodu in Bayannur, an inland port near Mongolia, has sought out ways to increase foreign trade and logistics. 

During the expo, various organic products were on display, attracting dealers from Egypt, Ukraine, Australia, Zambia, and Mongolia. “A total of 14 entrepreneurs from provinces of Mongolia attended the expo, and we aim to seek collaboration with Bayannur in husbandry sector,” said head of Mongolia Food and Agriculture Association, who visited Inner Mongolia for the third time.

In recent years, Bayannur has established production bases for grains, oils, organic milk, dehydrated vegetables, and sunflower seeds. In addition, it’s the only prefecture-level city that can provide goat breeding and mutton processing all year round. The city is also China’s second largest planting and processing base for tomatoes.

Bayannur has exported green agri-products to more than 80 countries and regions, ranking first in Inner Mongolia in terms of output for eight consecutive years.
