While shared bikes are bringing convenience in traffic-clogged cities, they also are causing inconvenience as sidewalks and other public places are littered with shared bikes.
To solve the parking problem, municipal governments were asked earlier this month to set up parking areas for bikes and severely punish violators.
Hefei, capital city of Anhui province, has seen the highest number of illegally parked bicycles being impounded by local authority. At least 10,000 shared bikes have been impounded since May.
